Luella does Ladylike

The Luella Spring/Summer 2009 collection played host to a pretty pastel fashion tea party at this year's London fashion week. A strictly pastel palette formed the basis of the a demure look, which featured copious amounts of ruffles, florals and the classic hourglass silhouette; perfect for a spot of English tea! Formerly making her mark in the fashion world as a journalist writing for the likes of Vogue, Luella Bartley has cemented her place as one of Britain's most talented designers. For a more affordable way to achieve ladylike elegance, invest in some vintage pieces (a 1940s tea dress or 1950s prom dress is the best place to start) and accessorise with a fascinator and pearls.

Pierrettes in disguise?

London based indie-electro duo Robots in Disguise become pierrettes in their latest video for upcoming single The Tears. The video also features Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh fame (who is infact currently dating Robot in Disguise's Dee Plume) donning a pierrot inspired outfit. The song and video are both brilliant as per usual with these ladies; have a look at their myspace page if you get time as they really are worth a listen

Alexa Chung is Elle's London style icon

Alexa Chung graces the cover of Elle magazine this month in an issue which salutes London's eclectic style. Her quirky indie look, consisting of blazers, plaids, smocks and skinny jeans, has made her a style icon and an obvious representative of great British style. However, she has ditched her trademark casual look in favour of a more sophisticated androgynous one for the magazine's cover (it's Chanel galore!) The issue celebrates the capital's most fashionable hideouts (including the most fabulous vintage shopping district in the country; Brick Lane) in synchrony with London's upcoming fashion week.
